Presentation to the Burnham-on-Sea War Memorial Hospital
February 12, 2016
When the Worshipful Master, Richard Kilburn, of the Mark Lodge of Freemasons in Burnham-on-Sea was appointed, he suggested that he would like something to be given to the Hospital in some way to mark the recognition of the treatment that he received as a patient there. Subsequently Bernard Spilsbury, Chairman of the Friends of Burnham War Memorial Hospital was contacted and following consideration of several ideas it was decided to refurbish the Memorial Plaques situated in the Hospital Grounds. Richard Marsh of Burnham Funeral Services was approached who suggested a method he could use to improve and preserve them for many years ahead. We feel that this is not only of benefit to the Hospital, but also to the members of the Royal British Legion and the general public on Remembrance Days. When we had decided that this was to be the project, the Worshipful Master kindly put forward the cost to be “match funded” by the Mark Provincial Grand Lodge of Somerset who approved the request.
