Friends of Burnham Hospital - Chairman's New Year Message

Well where did 2021 go? I have many of you to thank .........

Although we have not made any major purchases over the past year moving forward we are planning to improve the outdoor seating areas for patients and staff including the purchase of new garden furniture. We are also now working on some special projects. As these take fruition you will find information on our website www.friendsofburnhamhospital.org.uk or released in my News Letters.

During 2020 and 2021 The Ritz Social Club nominated us as their charity and raised in excess of £7000.00 what a great achievement!

The Friends of Lakeside Caravan Park held a charity night and presented us with a cheque for £1047.

Alan House of Brean Golf and Country Club allowed us the use of the facilities to run our annual ‘Party Night’ free of charge, this was a great success and raised over £700. We were so impressed with the venue we asked whether we might have a couple of nights in 2022? Alan is very keen to support the hospital so he has afforded us two further nights in March and September. Further information on dates and ticket sales to follow.....

We are very pleased to have the help of the Lions with the tending of the War Memorial Garden at the front of the hospital, our thanks to them for such ongoing dedication.

The Methodist Church has, again, nominated us as their charity for 2022 so we shall be in attendance on the 3rd Saturday of each month starting on January 15th. We are extremely grateful to the church, due to Covid we have had two very fragmented years but the total raised throughout the months we were able to run them amounted to £1452.74. We extend our thanks to all of our supporters at these mornings.

The Ritz has allowed us two quiz nights in 2022 Monday 28th February and Monday September 12th. These are fun nights and all the money raised is given to the hospital so come and join us.

Our ongoing supporter is “Crafty Comforts” on the High Street in Burnham who have supported us in selling “Bill’s Boxes”, a lovely selection of hand made bird houses, all the proceeds go directly to the hospital. Throughout 2021 Bill has made over £800.00 in profit from the sale of these so pop in to the shop , they have some wonderful ideas for presents.

Whilst we are on the subject of ‘crafting’ we have a group of 4 ladies who meet weekly making hand crafted cards. We are now able to take commissions so if you would like a special card made you can contact us either via the website or directly to me ceri160443@sky.com

We also have two further stores in Burnham that support us by selling our hand crafted cards, Baby Bee Crafty and Julia’s Flowers both stores are in College Street so pop in to see them.

Now what you have all been waiting for Ceri’s “begging bowl”.....

We are in need of quality goods for us to use at the various events, bottles, boxes of sweets, chocolates, biscuits, jigsaws, unwanted gifts, and quality Bric-a-Brac, just remember your outcasts could be someone else's treasure!!
